| All about Mrs. Long-email me
I began teaching at St. Rose in 1974 and I have
been here ever since. I started out teaching grade 4 for 17 years then
I moved to grade 6. I currently teach 6th grade classes as well as 7th
grade Social Studies and 8th grade American History and Language Arts.
I was born in Columbus, Ohio and raised in St. Marys,
Ohio. I graduated from Memorial High School in 1970. I then attended Miami
University, receiving an Associate of Arts Degree before transferring
to Ohio State. In 1974, I graduated from Ohio State with a Bachelor of
Science in Education.
As a child, I was active in 4-H showing horses and
entering many horse shows. I also played cornet and a clarinet in the
band, played basketball and volleyball, was a Girl Scout, and spent time
volunteering summers at a camp for disabled children.
My husband Les is an Elida graduate. I am the mother
of four children: Kerri Herbst-30, Kevin Herbst-26, Aaron Long-15 and
Ryan Long-12. They keep us very busy with soccer, baseball, band and golf,
just to name a few of our many activities.
I truly enjoy my job teaching at St. Rose and all
the people I have met here over the past 33 years. I especially enjoy
seeing former students come back to St. Rose to visit. In fact, out of
the 11 students in this year's 6th grade class, I have taught 7 of their
parents!
